ICAgile Certified Expert in DevOps (ICE-DO)

Today, the Agile industry tends to reserve the “expert” label for people who gain exposure in the community by writing great blogs, speaking at conferences and publishing agile books. While this is certainly a significant contribution to the community, we believe that there are great agilists within organizations who live agile every day and make exceptional contributions on the ground, where it matters most.


In light of this, ICAgile seeks to provide the industry with two things: (1) a Learning Roadmap for people to acquire knowledge and build capability in agile, and (2) a means of recognizing expertise through real-world experience and demonstration of capability. ICAgile offers ICAgile Certified Expert (ICE) competency-based certifications for various disciplines across the Learning Roadmap (e.g., Agile Coaching, Agile Testing, etc.).
 

To obtain the ICAgile Certified Expert in DevOps (ICE-DO), a candidate must demonstrate competency in the discipline of DevOps to a review committee of three industry-recognized experts. The candidate must provide a working DevOps pipeline and will be evaluated via an interactive virtual session with the review committee.

Cost

The fee for an ICE certification is $1275 USD. The first $300 is paid to reserve a review session with the panel and the remaining balance is paid upon successful completion of the Expert Panel assessment. Rather than paying renewal fees, ICE holders are required to submit 12 mentoring hours per year. These hours can be met by helping other ICE candidates prepare and serving on ICE-DO evaluation committees.

Process

Earn the prerequisite certifications.

Build competence.

 
  • Recommended 2-3 years of practical experience working in Development and/or Operations environments implementing DevOps pipelines. ICAgile recognizes the subjective element of evaluating field experience, and is looking for practical application of concepts with the DevOps track learning objectives
  • Six months active practice after earning ICP-FDO and ICP-IDO

Apply.

 
  • Submit at least three references (preferably from more than one organization)
  • Prepare a working DevOps pipeline which encapsulates the complete end-to-end flow from idea to deployment with telemetry and logging as a part of the implementation. The choice of technologies and tools is at the candidates’ discretion, however they must be able to explain the choices made during the assessment session

Sit before a panel of experts.

 
  • Present the working pipeline and answer questions
  • Break/fix the pipeline
  • Open Q&A
  • Receive same day feedback from panel
